Ranger also has a considerable sized team to ensure that we can meet any project, be it large or small. Our Specialist Coatings division alone employs 30 staff in Timaru and Christchurch.

ROGER FORDE

Roger started out his career in construction with Brown & Associates in Queenstown. This included several landmark contracts including hotel developments for Holiday Inns of America, Tourist Hotel Corporation and the initial feasibility for Millbrook Country Club.

Roger has considerable experience in Quantity Surveying and Project Management. He wore both these hats after joining C Lund & Son which saw the completion of the Fortex Silverstream single chain meat processing facility in Mosgiel.  This successful project resulted in a Management position with C Lund & Son Ltd during which he contributed to increasing the company turnover by 25%.

From his time in Queenstown until leaving C Lund and Son, Roger was directly involved in $225M worth of construction work.

In 1993 Roger grabbed the opportunity to buy into J H Wallace & Co, eventually creating Jenkins Wallace & Co.  This company has seen over 300 % growth in the last twelve years and was recently re-structured into the Ranger Group encompassing three separate entities; Ranger Construction Ltd, Ranger Applied Finishes Ltd and Ranger Holdings Ltd.

Roger is fully committed to the construction industry and its growth and takes an active role in the many regulatory bodies involved. He has been involved in the Gib Board Services Advisory Council and also an executive member of the Nuplex Contractors Federation.

To date, Roger has been directly responsible for the financial control and  management of $275 million worth of construction which includes a diverse range of projects such as hotels, schools, supermarkets, and processing facilities.  Roger believes his greatest achievement has been the relationship with Fonterra which began 19 years ago with a small remedial painting job for $1430.00. Recently this association resulted in the construction of the $45M Mozzarella Plant.

DOUG MATHER

Doug has numerous years experience in all areas of machinery and plant maintenance.  His past experience includes work as a salesman, spray painter and mechanic. Doug also successfully ran his own business as an automotive spray painter.

Doug joined the Ranger team in 2011 as Plant Manager and is responsible for looking after all the machinery and vehicles and ensures that everything at the plant runs efficiently.

ERIN CLARK

Erin started his working days with a timber merchanting company where he learned all aspects of the business including timber processing and treating. Frequent attendance at the Forest Research Institute involved studying all aspects of timber processing.

Erin progressed rapidly to become General Manager and at the tender age of 28 owned the company. With a staff of 68 the company sold to retail, construction companies and builders. During his time at the helm company turnover increased from $300,000 to $18,000,000 and served as a successful case study to the industry.

In the early eighties Erin designed and developed a wooden retaining wall system, Permacrib.  He created a unique packaging system and sophisticated treating process and set about to export. Over the next twenty years the product was exported to 25 countries, including Russia, through 64 distributors. As a private company they exported the largest number of containers per year   through the port of Wellington. 

Erin has served as an executive member of the NZ Timber Federation for fifteen years, as well as President of the NZ Wood Preservers Association and the NZ Timber Development Association.

Following his retirement from the pressures of running two businesses Erin has undertaken Business Owner Mentoring and has assisted over two hundred plus companies.

Erin has been involved with Ranger at the coalface, Project Managing three Z re-brands last year and managing Ranger Residential in Christchurch for 6 months.  Erin is currently fulfilling a corporate role assisting Managing Director, Roger Forde.

KRIS TARRANT

Kris has taken on the role of Manging the Residential side of the busienss in Christchurch and and working on the EQC rebuild. 

Kris started her career working for a multimedia company in Ireland prior to relocating to New Zealand in 1995.  Since relocating she has taken on a number of different roles including Economic Development, Training, Recruitment and Business Development.

Kris has utilised her business knowledge and human resources skills in various areas within the Ranger Group from marketing and health and safety through to assisting the Managing Director.

ALISTER ROWLANDS

Straight from school Alister began his painting apprenticeship in 1976 for Ranger, or RB Jenkins Painting as it was then.

Ali is vastly experienced in many areas such as floor preparation, specialist coatings, painting, waterproofing and fibre glassing.  He has seen the change from brush to roller and now spraying; from oil or enamel to water based paint, and everything in between.  Ali is vastly experienced at determining the best solution for the client to achieve the optimum outcome.

SIMON HARDING

Simon is a tradesman carpenter and has worked in the building industry for 29 years.

He worked in Auckland both as foreman and supervisor eventually rising through the ranks to the position of Contracts Manager. Working  with a well known builder in Auckland, they subcontracted to Arrow International and Fletcher Construction.

Simon plays a key part in the construction business for Ranger in Timaru and has worked on many projects for the company. Projects include a new classroom block for Waimataitai School, the remodelling of D-Block at Aoraki Polytechnic and the new gymnasium and classroom block at Timaru Boys High School.

Simon is currently managing the construction phase of CBay Aquatic Centre which is a $23.5m project due for completion in June 2012.
