Fire Surround and hearth refurbishment, restoration.

Challenge
This 100 year old Terrazzo fire place and surround in a stately Christchurch home was almost ready for the tip after 40 plus years of neglect.

The Architect and owners approached Tanson in the hope that this neglected feature could be restored.

The whole fire place was removed and taken to Tanson for restoration.

During the restoration period the owners found a Gas fired fire that fitted in the existing area fireplace so the challenge was to ensure it looked like it belonged.

During the refurbishment it was decided to reproduce an “inset” that would allow the fire to look as though it belonged in the area rather than placed.

Tanson was challenge to match the refurbished pieces and to replace the hearth.

Result
Delighted customers and Architect. “Most of our guests think it is brand new and we explain what Tanson did to make this stunning feature a seamless reproduction”.
