About Tanson Terrazzo - A Brief Overview

Established in 1865, the early days were mainly based around quarry work however the production of quality hand crafted Tanson Terrazzo began with the formation of Thomas Andrew Limited in the 1940’s

Tanson Brand developed on the cornerstones of quality, service, innovation and craftsmanship.

From 1965 the company grew its national reputation and skills sets, working closely with some of the best Architects and Designers in New Zealand.

Thomas Andrews and Sons was incorporated into Ranger Construction Timaru in 2005 and called Ranger Applied Finishes, Christchurch, reducing the presence of the Tanson Brand for a period.

In July 2008 the Tanson Brand resurfaced (still as part of Ranger Applied Finishes Christchurch) reinforcing its total commitment to the hand crafted quality of the past.

Combined with investment in the best of modern technology employing qualified, craft trained staff Tanson Terrazzo is rapidly regaining its reputation to SAFELY DELIVER QUALITY.

The Christchurch Branch specialises in the supply and production of Tanson Terrazzo Products and is known as Tanson Ranger. This department works with Architects Designers, general public in the design and production of a range of products including bench tops, BBQ’s, vanity tops, suspended hearts and stand hearths, fire surrounds and garden art.

Flooring applied finishes, including Terrazzo, are often used in high wear areas such as Office Receptions, Hotel Foyers, Supermarkets, Malls, commercial areas and industrial plants.

Freezing works, dairy plants, vineyards, motor car companies high end tourist locations such as spas, display areas, etc have all benefited from the application of flooring terrazzo and or polished surfaces. This area is usually serviced by Ranger Applied finishes Canterbury however both Tanson and Ranger offer a joint service to clients.

Tanson has recently won a contract overseas for a large domestic property involving Terrazzo wall panels, terrazzo stairs and balconies.

Quality Assurance Systems

Our work is audited regularly through our Quality Assurance programme.

We are Q-Check accredited, one of the few building contractors in the area offering this accreditation and we are a proud member of the Registered Master Builders.

Health & Safety

We maintain a comprehensive Health, Safety & Environment Management System administered by our Compliance Coordinator.

We are currently accredited to Tertiary Level in the ACC Workplace Safety Management Programme externally audited by ACC.

This is the highest level of compliance achievable under the scheme.
